Eric Fair

Eric Fair is a shareholder in the IT Risk Advisory Services practice at Schneider Downs, where he specializes in IT internal audit, cybersecurity, and risk advisory services. With more than a decade of consulting experience, Eric works with organizations to strengthen governance, manage risk, and enhance resilience across complex technology environments.

Eric brings particular insight to the higher education sector through his active involvement with academic institutions and his experience supporting organizations with evolving regulatory, cybersecurity, and data privacy demands. He serves as a Board Member on the Robert Morris University Accounting Advisory Board, where he collaborates with faculty and leadership on curriculum alignment, emerging risk trends, and workforce development.

Throughout his career, Eric has led a wide range of engagements including IT audits, SOC examinations, cybersecurity and privacy initiatives, and business continuity and disaster recovery programs. His expertise spans frameworks and regulations relevant to higher education institutions, including NIST, GDPR, and IT general controls, as well as enterprise risk management and vendor risk oversight.

Eric is recognized globally as a Certified Business Continuity Lead Auditor (CBCLA)—a distinction held by a small number of professionals—which reflects his deep expertise in organizational resiliency, crisis response, and continuity planning. Eric also maintains the CISA and CDPSE certifications.

He holds master’s degrees in Internet Information Systems from Robert Morris University and Accounting from Liberty University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management from Robert Morris University.
