John Sweeney

Senior Vice President for Finance & Business/CFO, Providence College

John M. Sweeney serves as Senior Vice President for Finance and Business/CFO for Providence College, with broad responsibility for campus operations, facilities, and information technology.

Since joining in 2010, he has led an aggressive campus renewal program with over $800 million invested in academic, athletic, dining, and residential spaces. He and his team developed a multi-year financial planning process tied to the College's strategic plan, producing strong financial performance while underwriting major program and space expansion.

He previously served as a Commissioner of the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), including two years as Treasurer. He remains an advisor to the Commission on financial matters.

Sweeney holds an MBA and a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Connecticut.
