Innovating Beyond the Fix: Unlocking Insight, Energy, and Breakthrough Thinking

Marc Kolp - Center for Leadership and Innovation

Most organizations are excellent at fixing problems, but breakthrough innovation rarely comes from working harder on what’s broken. It comes from creating the conditions for insight, curiosity, and possibility.

This interactive session introduces leaders to Using a Generative LensTM for Innovation, blending emerging neuroscience, practical innovation models, and live experiential activities. Participants will explore how to move beyond constraint-based thinking, unlock fresh insight, and mobilize human energy toward what could be, not just what needs to be fixed.

Learning Objectives

  1. Experience the difference between problem-solving and generative innovation.
  2. Learn how insight emerges at the intersection of curiosity, safety, and constraint.
  3. Practice simple tools to reframe challenges into innovation opportunities.
  4. Apply practical strategies to spark innovation within teams and organizations.
